UNTITLED- SOUND CANCELATION PROJECT

Hex panels are designed to be configured into different shapes as needed. They are lightweight and can be disassembled and stacked for portability. They feature two base options—slightly curved and flat—allowing for subtle structural curvature. Each panel incorporates an auxetic pattern (capable of changing shape when stretched in one direction) that can expand and contract. This shape change is enabled by systems embedded within the aluminum frame. Initial designs focus on standing panels with three, four, or five rows, as well as umbrella-shaped panels. The umbrella panels mitigate airplane noise in public spaces near airports, while the standing panels reduce traffic noise. These panels can be used in many different types of outdoor spaces like sidewalks, parks, squares. We have used parks as an example site.
